GT's Mimi Brodsky Kress is Montgomery County Philanthropist of the Year

November 2022

Longtime Giving Together member, Mimi Brodsky Kress, was recently named 2022 Montgomery County Philanthropist of the Year by the Greater Washington Community Foundation (GWCF).

GT is proud to congratulate Mimi on this honor. Below is the citation that accompanied the GWCF award, along with a video that was shown at the GWCF Celebration of Giving on November 16, 2022.

A third generation Washingtonian, Mimi Brodsky Kress maintains a deep commitment to her home community of Montgomery County through both her personal philanthropy and as the co-owner of Sandy Spring Builders, where she is one of only a few women builders in the area. Motivated by the Jewish principle of “Tikkun Olam” to repair the world, Mimi is passionate about supporting local charities providing access to mental health care, affordable housing, and programs supporting social justice. Her leadership on the boards of several local charities has been game-changing, leading to organizational growth and expansion of services to meet increasing demand.
