Another Successful Spring Fundraiser!

PopCulture Strings were the main attraction at GT's annual spring fundraiser on May 4, held at a member's home in Northwest Washington.

As GT members socialized with guests and enjoyed delicious food and wine, the string quartet played a beautiful mix of musical genres, from classical to contemporary to popular standards. The evening also included an update on our 2016 grant-award projects from Brett Myers, founder and director of Nourish Now, and Annie Turner, Executive Director of Food for Others. In addition, we heard from Anna Hargrave, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Montgomery County, who provided an update on the foundation's Neighbors in Need program.

Every dollar raised at the annual spring event goes to GT's Emergency Fund for Individuals and Families in Crisis, which contributes annually to Neighbors in Need. The program works with local non-profits who regularly see clients in desperate need of a small grant to help them make a rent payment, cover a prescription or pay a utility bill. An anonymous donor matches our contribution 100% - doubling GT's local impact.

The food at the spring event gets better and better every year. GT wants to thank all the local caterers, restaurants and stores that contributed an incredible array of hors d'oeuvres to our table and helped make the fundraiser a big success: Catering by Seasons, Lebanese Taverna, Occasions Caterer, Passionfish, Silver Spring Mill Bakery, and Susan Rothstein Catering. We love you all!
