Tour of Hillwood Museum and Gardens
In May, a group of GT members visited the Hillwood Museum and Gardens - the former home of the late Marjorie Merriweather Post, the General Foods heiress. Members were given a private tour of the museum in Northwest DC, which provides a window on Post’s lush life in the 1950’s. In addition to her original antique furniture and clothing, the house features Post’s large collection of French and Russian decorative arts. Her Sevres porcelain and bejeweled Faberge Easter eggs are among the highlights. Following the tour, our GT group headed for a private party room at the Hillwood cafe, where we enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea.
The Hillwood visit was the third in a series of museum outings organized for GT members. Previous events included tours of Glenstone in Potomac, MD, and the Kreeger Museum in Washington, DC.
