“Brown Bag” Lunch on Giving Circles
In April, GT members carried their own salads and sandwiches to the home of Treasurer Ellen Yahuda for a lunchtime discussion of giving circles. Our speaker and discussion leader was Lynn O’Connell, executive director of one of GT’s 2015 grantees: Computer CORE. O’Connell has a masters degree in philanthropy and wrote her thesis on the subject of the day: the spread of giving circles nationwide. She helped us see Giving Together in the context of similar organizations and shared a variety of practices that have helped other giving circles raise funds and enhance their grantmaking.
This was GT’s first “brown bag” lunch, but it won’t be the last! All who attended enjoyed the discussion and learned a lot from our dynamic speaker.
