GT holds periodic education programs dealing with issues related to philanthropy and our community. Many are "brown bag" lunches or wine and cheese get-togethers where members hear an informative speaker. One of our programs addressed the proliferation of giving circles nationwide. Our speaker helped us see Giving Together in the context of similar organizations. Another program provided an overview of health care in our community with speakers from healthcare foundations in DC and Montgomery County. We also enjoyed a presentation on volunteer experiences in our area. Recently, we adjusted to COVID-19 social distancing with a video conference. It featured representatives of organizations that serve the local immigration and refugee population - our 2020 grant theme. We are currently planning our next program in the series.
